Chateau le Puy

Château Le Puy belongs to the Amoreau family, French winemakers with a history behind over four centuries, who since the 1600s have handed down and preserved the authenticity of their wines thanks to the deep respect for nature and the territory and thanks to the meticulous care both in the vineyard and in the cellar. In addition to Château Le Puy, a historic Estate of the Amoreau, at the beginning of 2000 Jean-Pierre Amoreau also bought Château Pimpine, whose 13 hectares he had been caring for for some time. Today it is he, with the help of his son Pascal, who leads both realities of the Bordeaux area, fully following a philosophy of biodynamic agriculture and ancestral methods.
All the vineyards owned, which together reach more than fifty hectares, spread out on the rocky plateau of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol, have an average age of about fifty years and are divided into three plots that rest on a soil made mainly of clay, silica and limestone. The most cultivated red grape is merlot (85%) to which are added cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and malbec, while the only white berry variety planted is the sémillon. Château Le Puy elaborates eight labels, all "Triple A", including five red wines, two white wines (one from sémillon grapes affected by botrytis cinerea) and one rosé. Bordeaux wines with an unmistakable and territorial style, with an elegant profile and great drinkability.
From 1998 onwards, thanks to extreme care and thanks to a scrupulous selection of the best grapes, Château Le Puy produces its wines without the addition of any sulphites, sugars and yeasts during fermentation, without clarification or filtration in the subsequent stages, favoring a slow and progressive maturation of the wines themselves, increasing the aging potential and expressiveness of the terroir.
In particular, mention should be made of the Château Le Puy "Duc de Nauves", a Côtes de Bordeaux AOC based on merlot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon, and the Château Le Puy "Emilien", red obtained from merlot, with small percentages of cabernet sauvignon and carménère 1%.
